Princess cake is a pastry made from sponge cake with a good filling in between that usually consists of cream and some type of jam. With a good casing out of the marzipan mostly green, the original recipe appears in the Princesses' new cookbook from 1930
Compiled by the household teacher Jenny Åkerström. Åkerström taught girls at Östermalm in Stockholm and had, among other things, had the four princesses daughters of Prince Carl, and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark
In the book, the cake is called green cake but it got there after then the name princess cake.
